Dental check-ups in Shepperton
We welcome new and existing patients to Shepperton Dental. We accept patients from Shepperton, Littleton, Upper Halliford, Lower Halliford, Walton-on-Thames, Chertsey and throughout Surrey.
Regular dental-checkups are essential in keeping your teeth and gums healthy. You should visit your dentist every 6 to 12 months. If any problems do occur, we can quickly and easily treat them before they become more complex or potentially a costly problem later.

You should allow some extra time for your first dental check-up at Shepperton, and this is so we can find out more about you as well as your dental and general health.

Dental health review
We conduct a comprehensive review of your teeth and gums.
Low radiation digital x-rays
We conduct x-rays at your first appointment to check for any issues such as cavities or decay. X-rays are included for new patients within this appointment and there are no hidden costs.
Soft tissue screening
Again, at no extra cost, we conduct an oral cancer screening using advance fluorescent light technology.
After the assessment, you will receive tips and hints on how to protect your oral health. If any treatment is recommended, you will receive a bespoke treatment plan.

At Shepperton Dental, we focus on a preventative approach to dentistry – whereby we try to prevent problems from occurring. When issues arise, our most common restorative treatments include:
White fillings
A white filling is used to repair a cavity or decay in your tooth. Made up of a composite material which is colour-matched to your other teeth, white fillings are popular with patients as they naturally blend in and cannot be seen like the traditional amalgam fillings. The composite material is very durable.
Dental crown
A dental crown covers the top of the tooth which has been damaged, decayed or to give it extra protection. It is often used when the cavity in your tooth is too big for a filling. At your first appointment, any decay is removed, and your tooth is shaped ready for your crown. At your second appointment your bespoke dental crown is fitted to your tooth.
Dental extraction
If your tooth is decayed or damaged beyond repair, or if it is affecting the health of the adjacent teeth, it may need to be removed. We normally only extract a tooth as a last resort or if it is part of a planned treatment such as for teeth straightening or dental implant work. Extracting a tooth is conducted after local anaesthetic and it is quick and painless.

For any treatment that is over £500, we offer 0% finance subject to status which helps to spread the cost and make dental care more affordable.

Research has shown that both types of toothbrushes are effective in keeping your teeth and gums clean if they are used in the correct manner. Our hygienists can show you how to use both brushes correctly.
How do I care for dental restorations like crowns and fillings?
You should pay particular care to your oral hygiene after having any type of restoration. Be sure to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day. This should help to look after your restorations and ensure their longevity too.
How long does a filling last for?
On average, a dental filling usually lasts between 3 and 7 years. Your dentist will examine your fillings at your routine check-up. You can extend the life of your fillings by taking good care of your oral hygiene. If you see any discolouration or chips on your filling, you should book to see your dentist as soon as possible.
